Rescue
and Firefighters Corps
Rescue and
Firefighter Corps are located at all ASA
Network airports. Its main objective is to save lives in case of
accidents or disasters in aircrafts or in the airport facilities. The airport staff participates continuously
in training programs. They are trained in firefighting of airplane fires,
structural fires, airplane identification, first aid and first response for
emergencies involving hazardous materials.
According to international regulations the minimum response time is
limited to three minutes or less in order to control any incident or accident
involving an airplane.
To get to the
area or airplane accident in less than three minutes, there are two types of
vehicles: one rapid response vehicle with restricted equipment; and another
fully equipped truck with mega tanks like the Titan Four or the E-10.
The rescue
and firefighting personnel is trained to tackle urgent situations that could
occur at any airport nationwide, such as aircraft accidents inside or outside
the Terminal area, in-flight emergencies, accidents caused by natural
disasters or emergencies caused by massive crowds.
The education
and continuous training, specialized equipment and state of the art
technology of the firefighter corps guarantee safety and timely response in
case of emergencies at each of the ASA
Network airports.
